As part of my ongoing celebration of this years reawakening of ‘the inner child’ I think it’s time to put up this image – a collage composed of snapshots taken during my childhood, starting around age three, and including a couple school portraits from as late as third and fourth grades. I composed the piece a decade ago when I was creating projects to increase my skill levels in Photoshop; shortly after getting my hands on an old family album that included these wonderful windows on my world from the late 40s and early 50s. Whenever I’m tempted to focus on the ‘lacks’ or ‘bad times’ of my childhood, I just look at these photos and am reminded that I was having a good time; I obviously had plenty to smile about, even then. And I’m still smiling after all these years. More serious stuff tomorrow, about how it all began — the beginnings of the making of an artist…
A note on the power of Serendipity: today while preparing for this post, my intent was to feature a story about As You Like It, which I’ve decided instead to ‘bump’ until tomorrow. Quite by accident I came across the photo above, while searching for another photo in the files for inclusion in an email I was writing to a friend. It was a photo I had not seen or thought about in quite some time, which I recognized immediately as perfect for todays purposes. Truly, it’s all about timing…
