Road Trip #1 — Chicago Nocturnes

3viewsWP3 views from the balcony of the 10th floor condo on North State Parkway in Chicago, where friend Charlie Z and I spent eight of our thirteen nights on the road (thanks Marge & Dewey). Taken at dusk one evening after a storm had blown through leaving dramatic skies. Left photo: looking east toward Lake Michigan, that sliver of water-meeting-sky seen in the center distance between high-rises. Center: looking south into the forest of sky-scrapers. Right: looking west down car-illuminated Goethe Street into the last glimpses of sunset-lit clouds seen between/beyond the western periphery of high-rises.

TheTree&IWPNocturnes have increasingly become one of my favorite expressions in art and well as music; and the photos above of Chicago at dusk are three of my favorites in that genre. Speaking of Nocturnes, I had the chance to enjoy in person once again the original of this painting – The Tree, the Sky, the Moon and I – done in the early 90s, which my cousin Marge bought a number of years ago, and has hanging in their condo, right over the bed where I slept having sweet dreams.
